Philip writes ..
Heart 'n' Soul was based in
Sydney, Australia and was often referred to as a jazz/rock band. I joined the band in 1967.
"Lazy Life" was recorded at
Festival studios,
Miller St, Pyrmont and released in stores in May 1969. The hired string section for
Lazy Life was recorded at
EMI studios,
Castlereagh Street Sydney.
Apart from my disappointment that reverberation was added to the completed recording of
"Lazy Life" at the last minute,
and not a decision taken by the band at large, it did promote the band well.
As the band grew in popularity, the bigger the band became.
From singer, drums, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and 2 brass, it grew to include a
six piece brass/woodwind section, violinist and conga payer. So 13 young musicians produced a big sound
yet with a repertoire of many variations of music style, mood and dynamics, some stage antics thrown in.
From recording studios to radio stations and TV appearances,
Heart 'n' Soul was a dance band at some functions,
and a featured concert show band at others.
